In 2017 the global semiconductor component was worth $412.2 billion, an increase of 21.6 percent over the value of the market in 2016, according to the European Semiconductor Industry Association (ESIA), reporting figures compiled by World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS).
In Europe, semiconductor sales reached $38.311 billion, an increase of 17.1 percent compared to the 2016 sales of $32.707 billion.
The global three-month average of sales for December was $37.98 billion up 22.5 percent on the same period in 2016. This is the equivalent to fourth quarter sales. All regions showed strong increases with the Americas region doing particularly well. Europe's three-month average sales for December were up by 20.2 percent compared to a year before.
