Foundry market entering a structural growth phase
The non-memory market is divided into Intel and non-Intel companies (fabless/foundry). With Intel lagging behind in preparation for the fourth industrial revolution, non-Intel companies are expected to enjoy rapid growth. With the growth of non-Intel fabless companies (Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices, etc.) to add a direct boost, foundries are now entering a structural growth phase.
The foundry market is set to grow steadily alongside expansion of the non-Intel camp. Foundries equipped with advanced process technologies such as GAA (gate-all-around) and TSV (through-silicon via) are expected to see notable growth in market share.
Positive news flows for the foundry market
Among recent news, we focus on three positives for the foundry market: 1) Intel's delays in the 7nm process; 2) possible US restrictions on China's Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC); and 3) Nvidia's acquisition of chip designer Arm.
