SK Telecom develops AI processor

SK Telecom has developed an AI chip named 'SAPEON X220' with a deep learning computation speed of 6.7 kilo-frames per second with a power draw of 60W.

From next year, the company will apply SAPEON X220 to its AI service NUGU to improve the voice recognition capability.

An SK affiliate company, ADT Caps, will use the chip to enhance the performance of its AI-based video monitoring service named T View; the cloud server of the media platform of Cast.era, a joint venture of SKT and Sinclair Broadcast Group, will use the chip and it will be used to enable AI-based projects promoted under the Korean government's Korean New Deal Initiative.
