The two gentlemen sitting on the opposite side of my desk looked, if anything, bemused. I had not expected to see them together, certainly not on the delivery end of a sales call. One, an account manager for SDA, the other, an account manager for ECAD, had been rivals, each contending for my company’s business. That is, until a week or so before when it was announced that their two companies would merge to form Cadence Design Systems. The merger had not taken place, but was imminent.
