Last week on my trip to Asia, I was asked about the future of mobile DRAM’s, specifically LPDDR and Wide I/O. The mainstream mobile DRAM is LPDDR2 and estimates are that shipments will increase throughout 2012. The 3D multimedia applications will drive requirements for higher bandwidth, the current maximum LPDDR2 bandwidth is only enough to fulfill demand for this year.
